Biodiesel Labelling

Project Activities

In the framework of the Carbon Labelling project a CO2 label for biodiesel was developed (CO2Star) in cooperation with the German fuel retailer Q1. The label indicates the CO2 reductions of biodiesel from rapeseed (RME, B100) versus normal diesel.

Biodiesel refers to a diesel-equivalent, processed fuel derived from biological sources. In Europe mainly rape seed is used for biodiesel production. Though derived from biological sources, biodiesel is a processed fuel that can be readily used pure (B100) or blended (e.g. B5) in diesel-engined vehicles.
